YESH!!! My debut comic is out! I’m so HAPPY!!! WAKAKAKAKAKAKA…

After my 4th submission to the editor, this one was the light and the starting of my career as a freelance cartoonist. I’ve learn a lot from the editor after 8 months and I finally understand the process in making a good comic. Yeah, looking back at the first work accepted now seems like it still have flaws and newbie-ish, but I’m progressing along the way. I can’t rush work in most ways. I need to learn how to work consistently. Although this is the first year and I have a hard time coping with it, but this is life. It’s tough life…

Work in progress

Anyhow, I’m loving it! I’ve been through a lot brainstorming, getting sick, rushing works, late night works, walking to the office to and back… and it’s reaching to the end of the year. Although some of my plans don’t go what I want but I’m moving instead of standing still.

Now for those who already know, Support me ya?! I’ll ask my editor to leave me a copy and keep it in a plastic cover… WAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!! I need to treasure this copy like gold! Mint mint condition!

In other news,

After months of waiting, months of torture over the last short season. Something’s back!

(Heroes Season 3 - Villans)

I’ve watched the premiere show, Episode 1 and Episode 2…

All I can do is this…

Stop Motion

Posted by Emory on August 27, 2008

Stop motion is a video making process that takes a series of photo’s frame by frame and turning them into video. This process takes a lot of patience and time just to produce a short animation. Stop motion has it uniqueness. There are many movies that has stop motion. Most notable ones are The Nightmare before Christmas, Chicken Run, and Wallace and Gromit films.

Here are some independent short stop motion film makers showing their talents off. Most of them are pretty nice.

It takes from hundreds to thousands of photos just to complete a video like this! It’s pretty amazing how these people use their time to do these things. It takes a lot of patience and tries to complete the effect. Plus, a big planning must be done in order to convey the message across. But non the less, the animation is beyond what we can do with simple tools.

Short animations that tells a story by Watching

Posted by Emory on August 3, 2008

Sometimes cartoons care fantastic… Just like Wall-E. But there are other animations out there are nice that does not use any CGI or little usage of it only. I’m pretty amazed by the result that these people really take effort on making these short movies. They have a meaning to it and they were portrayed in a very artistic symbolic way.

Among all the best I’ve seen, I’ve placed it all here for all to see… So now here goes… 3 short animations that I think it’s great enough to watch.

Food Fight

This is about the World War II (and other reference to 9-11 and the ‘war’ after it…). Each food represents its own country… From Hamburgers (Amerca) to Sushi (Japan), this is a very interesting animation. Waste of food? The creator and his dog consumed most of the food so it’s not wasted. This gives another term of Food Fight!

Western Spaghetti by PES

Artistic stop motion animation using toys and papercraft to make a cooking video. It’s colourful and nice… but not for the stomach. It makes you go… “Wow! Nice!” but not “Delicious!?” More animation at PES

Rabbit by Run Wrake

Sorry but that’s the only better quality i found…

This animation is the best of all. Although it’s a bit cruel and graphic… The message get’s through. With words, storybook style art, and 2D animation fitted with compositions, This animation is very nice. It tells a story about how 2 kids wanted to get everything.

These short animations are very nice. I loved them all… Hope I can make my very own video animation. But I lack the tools anyway…

Kings of Power 4 Billion %

A cool game like animation that is a MUST watch for everyone*.

(* everyone by the meaning of those who are able to watch comical violence and gore, + mild nudity, + loud techno synth music, + flashing animation (like Pikachu shocks in Japan), + deformed body parts, + other things that are rated PG13, There is no rude language so…)

Not pirated… It’s official from the creator himself.

It’s really funny to watch and the storyline is a bit… Like Heroes, all the characters came out to face the chaos and mini bosses and then they gather around to face the final boss. There are a lot of game-anime-IRL parodies in the movie. Here are the following to note for by those non-gamers out there. And for those gamers, you’ll think it’s funny.

Metal Slug animation sequence
Powerpuff Girls alikes
Maple story hack slash
Otakus
Ragnarok Porings
Castlevania title
Streetfighter fighting skills
FlightShooter games
KOF style Supers
Akira/KOF K9999
RPG revives
cameos:
Pokemon
Ultraman
LOLcat/Longcat
Phoenix Wright
Sadam Hussien
Bomberman
Terry Bogard
Pepsiman
God of Cookery - Stephen Chow
Godzilla
Megaman

Some of the characters appear in brief moments. You need to rewatch then again and again to see clearly.

The while animation is just cool. The odd thing is… The ending has a very odd twist. VERY ODD… and pretty much gore itself.

But overall, COOL ANIMATION!
*must have this in any Ipod touch or PSP for entertainment fun…
