Sorry for the long disappearance, my sales job had taken most of my time to even make a proper blog post. Finally I have a little time to do this another long post since my previous one.
SUPER LONG POST!
First off, this post is all about my latest work in the sales department. Which involves me, A “Subscription Advisor”, a fancy name for Magazine Subscription Agent… or for short Salesman, selling magazine subscriptions to customers like Teachers, Lecturers, people with education and loves reading!
We had to go to schools, universities, colleges and maktab perguruan, we had to go inside these locations, sometimes it’s a bit hard because of security. Most schools and universities mostly ‘ban’ salesmen doing business. It’s pretty much hard to enter most areas. But if we are in luck, we might get into the teacher’s room or lecturer’s hall.
Mostly we have to work outstation. Right after a hard day of work, we stayed at locations so called Salesman’s House. This picture above is one of them. And the best one so far! This house is located in Ipoh.
Most salesman’s house is decent. But this one was newly renovated. Fresh, new and also comfortable to live at. It has most things, WiFi, fridge, microwave oven, LCD TVs, air conditioning, heater, DVD player, etc. It was superb!
But still, most things at this house is not for rent for one group only. Other salesmen also can book the rooms. Yes, we only rent one room. And also, the rate is RM25 per head!!! We had 4 people staying for 1 nights. Just imagine, instant RM100 for one night.
The room we stayed is pretty nice. Me and my friend stayed at the lower bunk of the room while my manager and my other friend stayed at the top bunk. Both areas has LCD Tvs!!! It’s worth the rent!
The outstation work was nice. I get to see many many different things, learn other people’s culture. Taste their food. talking about food… It has been a ride for my tastebuds!
This is very nice… It’s fried yong tofu! It’s super nice!!! It’s practically yong tofu fried and they have a variety of choices. It only cost RM6 for BOTH the Curry Noodle and also the fried yong tofu. As for the drink, it’s red bean + milk + ice. Expensive drink!!! Forgotten the price already.
I think one piece of the tofu was only RM0.50 if I not mistaken. The location of the restaurant is a bit hazy on my mind now. But people call it “Big Tree Head” (Dai Shu Tao) in Cantonese.
Penang food was also nice. I didn’t stay inside the island. The other side of the island, Butterworth. This plate of normal ‘LeeFah Noodle’ with Curry is an ULTIMATE match!! Sadly I don’t know how they made it. But it’s nice to eat.
This dish… Is absolutely hot… Despite it’s ‘cool’ colour, this rice is called Nasi Kerabu. It’s something like Salad + Rice + SomethingHotterThanWasabi. This thing is HOT!! Not to mention that Kota Bahru also having an extreme hot weather.
Calm places like these is always nice. But sometimes it’s a bit bothersome. No potential customers can be found at this area. We had a joke name for this area, FireFox Mountain. XD
Sometimes the weather at the mornings are a bit too cold for a person to work. It’s so calm that you sleep at the car even with enough sleep the previous night.
My spec was broken at the first week. A charger fell on it and broke one side of the lense. But it was replaced right before I went to Company ‘Training’ Camp. Just to know that during the bus ride to the location, my specs fell on top of my feet when I was asleep, when I got up… Crack… again… and got it fixed… again… =_______=…
On my first month, we had our first official team dinner. It was at a buffet Grill and Steamboat. That area serves the best lamb slices for grilling! They can lose the steamboat and only do the grill.
Back to my work… I’ve learnt a lot from these few customers that educates our nation’s future. There’s some good, and some bad. The good ones are mostly the most memorable advices I’ve heard so much. I try to work with pure honesty. But the bad parts are, some teachers are not what they look on the outside. They do judge people.
This is mostly the best excuses I heard so far from these teachers. No time, Internet is the next best thing, No money… blaa blaa blaaa…
Educators always tell us to read, but they don’t practice what they preach. They keep on passing excuses, and I quote that person’s saying: “I’ve read so much of these (textbooks) books. It’s enough already lah.” So this states that you are enough of learning? Enough of teaching? Then why bother keep going on educating the future?
Humans are selfish. So was I. I expected most educators of Malaysia are eager to learn, but somehow they are not. Well, I thought that the government implemented the internet in schools for teacher’s ease to find material to teach. But instead the teachers bring their laptops and online to plant trees, harvest their crops, asking other teachers to add you as friends… in Facebook…
Maybe it’s a stress relief for these teachers. Most companies ban these sites to improve productivity. Heck, my friend doesn’t even have internet access at his IT work!!! It was a WTF moment when I discovered that. Now I have a disturbed view of teachers already. I mean, they are still human.
Talking about human needs, food is mostly important. And another point to mention, I had a few healthy food and also some unhealthy food along the way. This meal above is nice. The portion is ‘controlled’. The rice is only a little amount, so as the chicken and the vegetable. But the soup is nice! So as the Honey Tea! The meal costs like RM7 while the drink is RM2.5
Some are up to my taste, but some, just not my cup of tea. This bowl of Fish “head” noodle is not really nice enough for me. Although there are also some fish meat, eating it is a bit troublesome. The fish bones just kills the enjoyment. My manager likes it… I just finds it a bit of a hassle.
Yo! My friend’s name on a store!
This is a mall in Kedah. It’s pretty empty at the noon time. Really empty… The mall is really big but no people on weekdays.
MyFC, A pretty much a local copy of KFC. I haven’t go there to have lunch. My manager didn’t want to put a risk.
This is an old place at Penang. This is Ong Cheng Huat Seafood Restaurant. This place was introduced at TV when we were working at Kedah. This place was said to be packed. And it IS!!!!!! The food is SUPER NICE! But the drinks, they have to knock it up a notch…
That is not a bottle of FnN Sarsi. It’s cooling tea…
The best of this seafood restaurant is not seafood. but this fish meat is smooth filled with flavour, and the fish taste is not that strong.
Just look at the meat…
This one… Don’t order if you go there… Basically they don’t have rice so they have an option of fried beehoon or fried (forgotten what that thing is… Highest chance it’s noodle)
This is crispy crackers. One of the best dishes I tasted.
Fried Tofu. Just like smooth smooth tofu fried. and not dried. That rhymed!
My plateful of tasty food. But this is not the hit dish at this area… and it’s not seafood also.
It’s chicken. This is not just any normal chicken. It’s small, young and also a virgin. Yes, you heard me… A virgin young chicken, deep fried…
The food is nice. It’s absolutely really nice to dine at the area but the environment can be improved a bit more. It’s packed like the whole town people enjoying the food there. They should invest more to make the area bigger. Okay, enough for the food… Back to my work.
Somehow people manage to follow rules in life. People set rules, become social norm. Conform with the normality of human beings. Follow the rules and live a mildly happy, stable, secure and also ever growing little problematic life.
People like being safe than sorry. Because if you go out of the box, it’s either you step on land, or you will fall down a pit, and climb up it… or die at the pit.
Because people didn’t think of much anymore. The guidelines are there set for you. I agree that sometimes people just moved on the wrong step. Some people move to the right one. But who can makes the best judgment? What is wrong and what is right?
People become defensive to what they want to protect, keep and also maintain it. They want to be safe on that. I too want to keep something for the long term. But somehow plans always obstruct you from getting it.
Sometimes we just need to cool down. I have lack of emotion control, I just don’t know how to control it. I don’t know how to cool myself down when I boil up. Maybe Ice is too common. Add some fruit, syrup, juice or a sweet topping, you get a nice desert. Smile and repress…
Time’s short… And I don’t have alot of time left. I’ve learnt alot this past 2 years. It’s time to start practicing, and continue learning.
Just as I was scrolling my list of MSN contacts, I came across a person’s blog which I never knew how he ended in my Contact list. But I was curious, thinking it may filled with self-camwhore-portraits. Instead I found a blog by a fan of Korean music. In the blog, a Youtube clip caught my attention and I without any hesitation, clicked on that music video.
Somehow I liked the song.
?? Wheesung - Insomnia
Well, the song is nice… but it was not an original song by him. The original version is by a black guy who likes to ask “What’s Your Flava” to “Fill Me In” in “7 Days” so by the time you see him “Walking Away”, you will know his “Rise and Fall”.
Back with a different look from the last time I saw him…
Craig David - Insomnia
Craig really changed a lot. And this song, produced by Timbaland Productions is good music! I now start to think that all Timbaland Productions are real real good quality dance music!
Anyways, recently I’ve been sick. I had a visit from the dance fever-land. It’s good to be well again. I had to postpone my appointment with my editor to last Wednesday to hand up my work. and I had to pick up the slack I made… FINISHING 4 PAGES WITHIN 24 HOURS!!! That was the record of the year and I didn’t have enough sleep to begin with!!
Sometimes these rushing experiences really give some thought for myself. How I can organize my time to finish 4 pages in one day! At least now I know I can do 1 page within 6 hours of my time. I think I’ll start do 2 pages per day. But with having the weekends off for brainstorming and drafting. I also have conversation with my editor lately on my future as a freelance mangaka there in the company. The editor wants me to go another level this year (So do I). I hope the last few comics I complete will end my Fairy Tales chapter and start with a new story with ultra strong fresh mint characters! I won’t spill anything just yet. But I hope by May, I can start this Project ‘O’ which is going to be a mainstream humor ultra super duper kawaii killarz comic!!!!111oneoneone…
Last last Saturday was a day that I could not forget. What seems to be a good day but it turned out to be a total disaster. Here are some before after pictures to prove my point.
What is now…
What was that day…
Another angle on it to see how this is “why so serious”.
See if you can spot where the drain leads to. That black little hole at the end is where it goes…
Either our place is easily flooded or tsunami just hit us here in KL…
=____=… Good thing I live uphill…
Great news! (Or on the contrary) There is another new Harry Potter book! It’s an official book and I just spotted it in Ikano’s Popular Bookstore!
See the thing on my hand! It’s not entitled “Harry Potter and the Balance of Earth” from Futurama… Neither it is written by J. K. Rowling.
Somehow, people just want to have a piece of the delicious cake which the Harry Potter brand name is worth. I wonder if they are even ALLOWED to use the name Harry Potter in front of their book and design it to look like that. Bloodsuckers…
Just yesterday, me and a group of my friends went to The Gardens at Mid Valley. I just don’t understand why they wanted to go eat at a place that you will absolutely know it is damn pricey, high classed, and yet somehow having that gut feeling that its not really worth it?
More like flying money…
This Thai food restaurant is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous! Somehow they know how to make dishes but not single serving personal dish! And the simple drinks are overpriced and overrated…
Basically Soda without the sweet taste and Pandan cooked in sugar water
I should have ordered Soda… RM5 for the Tonic and RM9 for the Pandan drink…
Fried Rice with Prawn
This dish made my friend unhappy with the service. My friend could not eat meat on that day, but seafood is fine. He asked the waiter to NOT serve chicken to him but add more prawns or something like that. But ended up disappointed and angry. Dish price: RM15.50
Pineapple Fried Rice
This one looked nice. Some of my friends are satisfied with this dish. RM16.50
Steamed Rice with Hot Basil Chicken and Sunny Side
Somehow this being priced at RM15.50 is more or so of another ripoff… The taste is not so great. I had to put the chili powder on it so that it is hot enough to make me sweat as if I’m in a sauna. It felt like I can cook that dish and sell it at RM5.
Some things on the menu when spoken sounded funny in a way. For example, Stewed Beef Noodle, which my friend said tasted like beef cooked in black soy sweet sauce and then placed on top of the noodle, may sound funny when read quickly. Stupid Noodle.
And another noodle which we don’t really understand…
Phad Thai Noodle…
Part Time Noodle? WTF?!
Unless you are having a strong stomach on coconut milk and hot spicy food, not to mention their dish like tomyam soup (very nice!) This restaurant is nice to go. But avoid all weird name single dishes.
I don’t like coconut milk… I had to go to the toilet 2 times the next morning.
Yes, you read it correctly. Pokemon Curry - Made in the greatness of Japan. The place where people like hot stuff, cute anime creatures, manga, technology and so much more, gather in the city that is so advance, my head almost fell off while tasting this imported packed curry.
What is different between this curry and the others we eat in Malaysia? It has Pikachu on it! It’s not made of Pikachu meat or any rodent but the creature is merely an illustration that Pikachu also likes curry… (Citation needed?)
Although I’m not proficient in Japanese, I bought a pack costing RM4.90 and brought it back home and have it a go. By looking at the illustration on how to prepare them at the back of the packaging, I managed to use my imagination and the many many years of experience making instant noodles edible, to work with this curry.
Judging by the instructions, I ruled out the Microwave version because we don’t have a microwave… (just yet… (or never))…
After opening them, there are 3 objects which includes the packaging itself. Inside there is the curry sealed inside a foil with detailed instructions. A Pokemon sticker, in where opened, reveals a Pokemon inside, and the insides of the packaging with extra Pokemon information about the collectable stickers.
Got a (eat) catch em’ all!
First, I boiled the water so it gets hot first before putting in the packet.
Next, insert the whole packet inside the boiling water.
Later, wait for 5 minutes for the whole thing to warm up.
Then, remove from the pot. Here, I boiled an egg to company with the curry.
Lastly, remove the warmed curry from the packet. Serve with rice while both are still hot.
I can say that this packet of curry concept is nice. But still this is a product for kids. Not mainly for adults, or young adults to have a good meal. It’s just merely a snack. It may fill the stomachs of young kids but it may not fill mine. It’s like those small packet of Ding Dong chocolate biscuit snacks in a box with different toys inside when I was young. See how advanced Japan is?! Kids eating curry from packets!!!
I’m depressed…
After all, it’s a bit sweet and not even hot… as in curry-hot-kind-of-hot… It’s not even made of Pikachu meat!!
Ok, I was going to submit my work to the office today. It was cold and I only had 2 hours of sleep. Ben woke me up because his keys were lost and I need mine to go out today.
I went back to a little sleep right before my alarm went off. I woke up and boiled some water for shower. During the shower, the bucket filled with warm water was tipped of balance and most of the water is poured.
BAD SIGN NO. 1
As the time was approaching for me to go, someone called me. The comic editor told me that the appointment was postponed due to a blackout in the office.
DOOOOOOM!!!!
Sienz… I was hoping that I could go there today. Then I stayed home for a while, I was planning to go buy something to cook for lunch and plan for the new comic. Suddenly my stomach started to feel uncomfortable. It was bloating and I kept burping…
BAD SIGN NO. 2
As I was price surveying and shopping, I came across cheap stuffs which I will buy other days. But the whole shopping went worst when my stomach started to fight back with gas coming out. I felt like I wanted to puke. I took my time to get some fresh veggies and some meat for lunch. Tomato from Cameron had a price hike and I couldn’t stand the uncomfortable stomach ache. I bought a can of softdrink and a sachet of Eno Ginger fruit salt for later.
Went home and instantly cook the meal. While drinking the can of Pepsi Twist.
Good thing there was rice from last night. I cooked more for this morning but I ran out of time to cook it, so I plan to leave it till noon to eat it when I was back from the office, but ironically it was canceled.
I have not taken meat for the past week and I only taken veggies, veggies, fried rice, fried rice, porridge, fried rice, etc… I remember having fried rice for the past few days. It tasted good at the beginning, but the more of it makes you bored and scared of it… Now I’m damn scared of having fried rice again… with soy sauce…
The simple meal I made. Ben called me to open the door for him, so I waited for him to join along with me. Since my appetite was being blocked by my stomach… And the Pepsi Twist managed to sooth some gas off through my throat.
I wonder how the kids at my old workplace are doing? Especially the one I cared the most… I hope they are all fine. (While I’m sick here and do nothing but work all the time… Grr…) I damn miss Kuching.
Ben came home and told me a few stuff on my sickness while we were having lunch.
1) Sleeping in odd times, eg. usually sleep at night, suddenly sleep at day.
I’ve been doing so because of work. Working at night and sleep at day. I suddenly felt like becoming a vampire. That caused my stomach to ‘wake up’ at different time zones. Although I’m still awake, the stomach might be ‘resting’. I’ve been like this for the past few days.
2) Stomach bloating because of the gas inside.
This is because of the sleep time error… Got to correct that today… Or else I’ll remain sick.
3) Take ginger tea to sooth the pain. or Eno.
I already bought it, Ginger flavoured too..
I need to make sure I don’t skip a WHOLE night on work and sleep at morning again. I must sleep at night… Or else I will really become a vampire and fly back to Kuching.
Ben told me to take the Eno after lunch and try not to eat fried or oily stuff… (as opposed to the fried nugget and sausages above, I did another boo boo…)
It was been a Hellofaweek… I need to focus on my work in day and sleep at night. Take more veggies other than having rice only. Drink more water and focus more on work. I’ve been off key on work lately too…
I’ve been up for the Apple’s WWDC08 conference with Vin on Tuesday morning at 1 a.m. We listened to the streaming live audio from the convention. Although noisy and loud, it was worth the listen to it. Live from San Francisco and the thrill is to know about the Iphone 3G, the new Iphone.
Lastly, my sick face…
Do I look sick to you? My hair is longer now… Plan to have it cut in next year. Let’s see how my hair grown till the end of the year. If I’m tired of it, I’ll snip it off at the salon here. Damn expensive leh…
So soi one, Then Wednesday is my bad day.
but Friday isn’t! Friday is my Fantastic day!!! W00t! Submit my artwork on that day!! Laters…
I went to my friend’s BBQ party last Thursday. I learned how to start the BBQ charcoals… It took us time while I was starving though…
I was busy BBQing things like Fish in aluminum foils, sausages, and the best thing… lamb!!! It was cut into smaller pieces but I managed to made it the best thing around.
It was a surprise Birthday party for the hostess. Me and Thai bought a gift for her, but when it was time to sing the birthday song… 3 things came out…
One cake was beside the hostess, one was beside a guest, and one was surprisingly near me…
Then all of a sudden,
The May Bdays…
=_____=….
I was shocked! Didn’t get a picture of us 3 birthday peoples together. I was holding a skewer of sausages when they were taking a photo…
Here’s my cake!!! Cheesecake from Secret Recipe again…
I was so into BBQing the lamb till I got surprised by them! The cake is damn nice!!! (Not including the candle)
I had a lot of fun with these newly found KL friends. We met an Indonesian guy that comes from Sumatra. He’s Chinese and his accent is pretty funny but he’s delightful in the crowd. Did you spot the succulent lamb on the top pic?
The lamb meat is less than the other food. I managed to marinate it and BBQing it to a certain juicy point. A few had tasted it and they said it was nice. But to me, it was PERFECT for my liking.
